Although gold is pretty high right now, you would have to have a good amount to really make any money off of it. did the pieces mean anything to you? if so, I would consider it worth the while to have them melted down and fashioned into a new piece.
How damaged are they? Sometimes you can get them fixed cheaper than replacing them. You may want to look into the cost of repair, if you haven't already.
